  • President Goodluck Jonathan has emerged the Presidential Flagbear for the Peoples Democratic Party. He was voted the presidential candidate at Eagles where PDP conducted a hit free primaries. The Primaries/National convention which ended at about 6:32am 14th January, 2011.

Goodluck Jonathan polled 2736 votes to beat Atiku Abubakar who polled 805 votes and Sarah Jibril who got 1 vote.
Total valid votes casted was 3542 and 61 votes was invalid.

It was a well organised and transparent primaries. PDP has really proved a point here.
Jonathan won massively in South South and South East and South West. He also won in almost all the Northern State except in Zamfara, Kano, Sokoto, Niger where Atiku beat him resoundingly. The race was closest in Bauchi where Jonathan got 46 votes and Atiku got 44 votes.
Another interesting thing was that Goodluck beat Atiku in Adamawa, Atiku's home state polling 76 votes to Atiku's 31 votes and Sarah's 0 votes while in Bayelsa Goodluck's home state Goodluck sweeped the table polling 67 votes  and Atiku and Sarah got nil.
